Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use Follique if I have aspirin allergies?
No, if you have true aspirin allergies, do not use ingrown hair fighting products unless approved by your doctor.
Can I use Follique on my face?
Yes, we have thousands of male customers who use Follique on their faces and have for years. However, every person has different skin and you should begin use cautiously. Do not rub the Follique on, it will exfoliate the skin with out rubbing and rubbing the product on can increase exfoliation too much causing irritation. Begin Follique or Shave Aid use on the face 1-2x a week to start. Increase use as needed and spot treat areas if it is not needed over the entire face.
Can I use Follique with tanning lotion?
Do not use them on the same day as the Follique will accelerate the tanning lotion, causing a mismatched tan where you applied both.
Is it better to use warm water when shaving beards or legs?
Although Beard hair is as tough as copper wire, applying warm water causes hair to expand, making it softer and easier to cut. The force required to cut beard hair is reduced by almost 70% after a 2-minute application of warm water.
Does shaving help with exfoliation?
Yes. A person's face is composed of an outermost layer of skin that is primarily made up of dead skin cells. When a person shaves while his or her skin is wet, these dead skin cells are removed. While shaving, a person removes about as much skin as hair.
Does Follique help with exfoliating the area?
Yes. Follique and Shave-Aid ingrown hair fighting products help to exfoliate the area it is applied to as well as cause the hair to lift up out of the skin and disinfect the area, in case infection is stirring.
Can too much Follique cause over-exfoliaton?
Yes. When starting with any ingrown hair fighting product, the individual should start gradually, no more than 2-3x a week to start, increasing use as needed. If too much product is applied to an area, over exfoliation can occur, which may cause the skin to appear thin or slightly discolored. Always begin new products slowly, increasing or decreasing use based on your own personal skin type. One was of usage will never work for everyone.
Can you spot treat a single ingrown hair 2-3 times in a day with Follique?
Yes. If you have an inflamed ingrown hair, you can dab the area with a cotton ball and Follique 2-3x a day for no more than 2-3 days. If the issue has not resolved itself in that time, see your doctor. The Follique will exfoliate and disinfect the area as it helps the hair to work its way out. Don't pick or squeeze the ingrown as it is infected and this can spread the infection or exasperate it.
If you wish to achieve an even closer shave (as many barbers do) apply some more lather from your brush (add more cream if necessary) to the areas you wish to shave again. Keep everything moist. This is one of the extra advantages of using a brush. For most guys, re-shaving certain areas with the grain should do the job. Profes
